Residencias Villanueva is a social housing project in Quito, Ecuador, designed by ERDC Arquitectos. The project includes 27 apartments and 17 houses that are distributed in three blocks, maintaining a central green space with access to the surrounding neighborhood. The houses have rear patios that preserve the project’s green perimeter. The apartments are occupied by small families, elderly individuals, and ESPE university students, whereas the houses are occupied by families with expansion plans. The project was developed under the VIP program, which sets affordability requirements for social housing projects, and the houses can be expanded in various stages. The project values communal spaces, vertical circulation, bridges, green areas, commercial spaces, and corner entrances designed for future use.
