Summary :

STAKK, a beauty salon in Osaka headed by Masaki Yoshida, has opened with a design concept centered around a grid. The floor and walls feature a lattice-like layout, and the stainless-steel sinks for shampooing are arranged in the center of the shop with rows of seating placed outside. The design is intended to convey Yoshida’s concept of “periodic subdivision” and is aimed at creating “blind spots” that do not draw attention. The salon currently has four haircutting seats but can be expanded to a maximum of nine. The use of tile materials makes expansion and replacement easy while reducing environmental impact.

Description :

The beauty salon STAKK, located in Osaka’s Orange Street and headed by Mr. Masaki Yoshida, is now open. The name comes from the word “stack”, meaning “to pile up”. The design concept is based on a grid, inspired by a sketch made by Mr. Yoshida that analyzes hairstyles from the shape of the head, creating a lattice that reflects his logical way of thinking. The floor and walls were made into a grid, and the stainless-steel booths in the center of the shop contain shampoo sinks, while rows of seats are placed on the exterior. The materials come in tiles for easy expansion and maintenance, creating a functional design that’s considerate to the environment. The focus is on creating distance, with set distances and sizes distributed to make walls and floors parallel to the seating area and create “blind spots” in the shop. The haircut area currently has four seats but can be expanded to nine in the future.
