The revised plan outlines strategies, measures, and actions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from community activities and some municipal operations, reflecting the county’s commitment to fighting climate change.
Los Angeles County recognizes that climate change is an urgent and significant threat with real impacts being felt today. The county’s residents, especially the most vulnerable, have already been adversely affected, and future generations may suffer harm to their health, safety, and welfare due to climate change. On September 4, 2018, the County Board of Supervisors adopted a motion supporting the 2016 Paris Climate Agreement and declared the County’s commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit global temperature increases.
The 2045 Los Angeles County Climate Action Plan (2045 CAP) outlines the county’s strategy to achieve carbon neutrality for the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. The 2045 CAP builds on the Unincorporated Los Angeles County Community Climate Action Plan 2020 (2020 CCAP) and identifies measures and actions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from community activities and municipal operations.
The Revised Draft 2045 CAP and Recirculated Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) are open for public review and comment from March 16, 2023, to May 15, 2023. The public can provide feedback by sending comments to [email protected].
