Avenue House / ADDARC – no change needed
Avenue House / ADDARC
Australian architecture firm ADDARC transformed an underutilized site in Brighton East into nine contemporary dwellings. The traditional row typology is set around a heavily landscaped common mews and was elevated to create distinction between the dwellings by incorporating pitched roof forms and layering. The exterior features standing seam zinc cladding and charred timber, which are continued internally in the form of deep-toned paneled walls and polished plaster to blur the boundary between inside and out. The use of animated roof forms, large windows, and directional screening solutions affords maximum daylight into the habitable spaces while maintaining internal privacy and offsite amenity.
