ARCHIHOPE has transformed an existing old workshop building into a sustainable and innovative customer experience center for BMW in Shenzhen, China. The center, located in the Qianhai Cooperation Zone, embodies the unique marine culture of the area, and designers used a passive building prevented-heat strategy with perforated plates and double Low-E hollow glass to create a “composite skin” that filters sunlight, provides natural ventilation and stable temperatures for indoor spaces, and creates a mysterious and science fiction atmosphere. The design also includes flexible interior spaces inspired by coastlines and waves, with meandering wavy coastlines incorporated into the spatial shapes to provide customers with more freedom and comfort, and a functional beverage bar counter that implies the essential meaning of “water.”
